Eko otok Krk — the island's separate waste collection system
A long-term island waste management system with Zero Waste certification.
About the record
The island's system has operated since 2005, and in October 2024 Krk received Zero Waste certification as the first island in Croatia and the second in the world. The certifier's current register lists one star. The operator, Ponikve eko otok Krk, is also participating in the new SOWISE+ project to develop materials from biowaste.
