Marina Mlakar, PhD
Expert associate for marine and environmental research
Marina Mlakar, PhD, is a chemist and long-standing scientist at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, now an external associate of its Division for Marine and Environmental Research. She studies marine and environmental chemistry, particularly trace metals and their interactions with organic matter in natural waters. She has been involved with CIESM since 1983 and has attended many of the Commission's congresses. From 2019 to 2024, she chaired the Marine Biogeochemistry Committee and served on CIESM's Scientific Board. Today she is a member of the CIESM General Assembly, representing the Republic of Croatia following her appointment by the Ministry of Science.
